Bath Spa University Theatre
Simon Marcus of Enlightened Lighting was commissioned by Bath Spa University College to consult on all technical aspects for a new theatrical performance space while it was still in its design phase.
Working along side Feilden Clegg Bradley Architects, a full Technical Specification was written. Following competitive tendering of the specification, Enlightened successfully won the contract to fit out the performance space and supply all loose equipment.
Enlightened worked along side the main building contractor, starting the installation before the building was handed over to the University.
With Enlightened's dedicated installation team working full time on the project, the installation went well.
The full installation comprised of over 30 facilities panels, located around the building from the stage & lighting grid through to the managers office. These panels distributed sound, lighting control, video and Ethernet all round, back to a central patch facility located in the main control room.
The lighting installation consisted of 16 Internally Wired Bars (IWB's) fed from 120channels of Zero88 Chilli Pro dimming and 48 ways of Zero88 High Frequency switch racks for hot power. The IWB were fitted with 15amp socket outlets for dimming circuits, 16amp for the switched circuits. DMX was also distributed on the IWB's on 5pin XLR connectors.
A Strand Classic Palette lighting control console was specified and installed, complete with Wireless Remote Control.
Loose lighting equipment consisted of 24 Selecon Rama Fresnels, 12 Selecon Accliam Fresnels, 12 ETC Source 4 Zoom Profiles, 12 Selecon LUI Cyc floods, 12 ETC Source 4 Junior Zooms, 12 Thomas EuroCan Parcans and 6 Thomas Eurocan Floorcans. This was supplied along with a full compliment of cabling and lantern accessories.
The Sound installation comprised of 4 Nexo PS10 and 2 LS500 bass speakers, all flown. Stage monitoring is completed with a pair of dB Technologies M12-4 Active speakers.
A soundcraft GB4 24channel sound desk was installed along side a range of microphones and a full diversity AKG WMS400 radio microphone system. Tascam & Lexicon playback and effects units were also supplied.
A bespoke stage management Cue Lighting system was designed and installed along side a full compliment of TecPro intercoms system.
The installation went with out a hitch from Enlightened's point of view, completing our works on time and on budget.
